companions
The companion group which meets in Emmittsburg did not meet as frequently this past year because of Sister Joan Maenner’s death, the responsibilities we assumed after her death, and our need to find and move to a new residence.
In November 2006, the group traveled to the motherhouse to visit Sister Joan’s grave. At the same time they had the opportunity to meet Kathy Boehm, to see the motherhouse facilities, and to visit the hermitages.We did not meet again until February 2007, at which time we presented a method of praying with Scripture developed by Father Nigro, SJ. We also shared the morning prayer with gestures Joyce Rupp had offered in one of her books.We met in September 2007 and shared about Francis and the Wolf of Gubbio and the significance of Francis’ action for today’s world. In November 2007 we shared the video and prayerful reflection on the San Damiano Crucifix which had been part of the Franciscan Federation meeting. For 2008 we will focus more specifically on Franciscan influences.
